Lymphedema Awareness Foundation’s (LAF) Patient Fund

We invite vendors, therapists and patients to make a tax-deductible products, service and/or financial donations, to help assist a patient in need, per year. To donate one full treatment of lymphatic therapy, a garment or monies to the LAF, you will benefit from a tax deduction, under the LAF’s 501c3 tax exempt USA status.

Steve Parkinson, of the Jacksonville Lymphedema Clinic in Florida, is the LAF Patient Fund Manager. This volunteer position will assist with the recipient screening process and to inventory/disburse the donations.

Patient Screening:
To ensure you donations go to patients in need, the patient screening process involves information from their lymphatic therapist and the patients compliance history. Also the patients’ current tax return, pay stub, contact information and a doctors prescription, if applicable. This fund is not available to the LAF Board of Directors, their friends or family members.

FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS:
$500 of the funds from the RITA Foundation, Inc., is dedicated to help offer financial support to patients in need.

DONATED LYMPHEDEMA TREATMENT:
Pam Smith – OTR/L, MLDT - donated to the LAF, a CDP treatment session for one patient. Thanks to Pam Smith, a Lymphatic Therapist from the Academy of Lymphatic Studies. The clinic is at Florida Hospital Waterman Center for Rehabilitation and Wellness, in Lake County Florida at 352 742-8282.
Ginger Cox, LMT, CMLDT – donated to the LAF, a CDP treatment session for one patient. Thanks to Ginger Cox, a Vodder certified Lymphatic Therapist in Orange City and DeLand, Florida at 386 235-3304.
Scottie Bull, PT, MLD/C – donated to the LAF, a CDP treatment session for one patient. Thanks to Scottie Bull, a Vodder certified Lymphatic Therapist at Physio Med, Leesburg Florida at 352 365-1114.

DONATED PRODUCTS:
One Custom MedAssist Garment per year – donated from Andoyne by Michelle Galeano. They generously donated a “Non-elastic” of either below-knee (BK) Leg Assist, or an Arm Assist with or without the hand. Due to the high cost of this garment, MedAssist can not rework the donated garment. A step-by-step measuring video and tape is available. Medassist will require a doctor’s prescription. Thanks to the assistance of Lymphedema Therapist, Michele Galeano at 1800 521-6664.

DONATED SUPPLIES:
Van Russell, Sr. Territory Executive of ConvaTec – a Bristol-Myers Squibb Company – generously donated edema control supplies (double layer tubular soft cloth bandages). Van also offers Wound, Skin and Ostomy care and edema control supplies. He can be reached at 1800 523-1735 x8122.
Bandages – clean and re-usable supplies were collected and donated by Beki Reily. A Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant and Certified Lymphedema Therapist at Memorial Hospital of Tampa, Center for Comprehensive Rehabilitation, at 813 873 2673.
